Japanese-Taiwanese Friendship Project: A Night That Lights Up Your Heart: Lantern Night
Lantern flying that has been handed down for generations in Taiwan.
Originally, it was a ritual in which prayers for good health were written on paper lanterns called sky lanterns and ignited using the same principles applied to hot air balloons.
One by one, the fantastic red lanterns will fly high in the sky, representing each person’s hopes and wishes.
The lanterns flown at Aso Rock will be lit with LED lights instead of fire.
They will also come with a string so that the they can be more easily collected, allowing for a lantern fly that is not only safe and secure, but also environmentally friendly.
